Social Media Marketing Tips: Buffer

Published / by caroline@myfriendcaroline.com / Leave a Comment

I have learned many different tools I can use for social media on this journey of blogging. There are so many social media channels to choose from. There are paid programs to help you keep organized and to learn many tips and tricks. I am sure that many of you are like me don’t have the start up money to invest in different programs and courses. I have, however, found a couple of paid programs that aren’t too expensive and are worth the price (IMHO). Some many not work for you but I wanted to write a few articles on what I have found to work. This is my first one and it is about the scheduling program Buffer.

Let me first explain quickly what Buffer is. This is a site where you can schedule your social media to post for you at different times during the day. It does work with different sites but the two that I use it most often for is my Twitter account and my FB business page. I sell products online and want to get them out on social media for people to see, but it takes time to do each one at different times during the day. This is where Buffer comes in. I can schedule different posts, put them in my que, decide when I want them to go out and then go on to my next project.

I schedule my buffer for a week. Now for my Twitter account every post isn’t about a product. I can schedule a fun saying or ask how everyone’s day is going at a certain time, (just as an example). For my FB business page I will only post my products. Buffer allows also to add hashtags to get more eyes on my items.

For twitter I set up 6 tweets a day and my FB business page 2 a day. I also go on twitter myself during the day and maybe retweet something I see that I liked. (this does not take too much time). Again that way it isn’t all about me.

The account I have is $10 a month. I have attached a free Twitter checklist that you can download that I use to help me know what I have sent out so I don’t duplicate items.

I hope you have found this somewhat helpful. These are just some tips that I have found to help me get my blog and products out there on social media. I am still learning and would love any suggestions you may have. Just comment and let me know if you have any comment or helpful tips. This article is not an affiliate of Buffer. It is just a program that I have found to use.

I feel I will always be learning different aspects of blogging and running my own website. It has been just a little over a year that I started this. I have learned quite a bit. I will be sharing what I have learn in upcoming posts. These are some things that I really didn’t know about until I dove into this wonderful thing called blogging.
Using Pinterest to the fullest extent, programs such as Buffer and Boardbooster, affiliate links and creating images with Canva.
I look forward to sharing what I have found out about these.

Keep on learning!!!

Social Media Tips for Newbies by a Newbie…come learn with me!!!

I am not an expert on  all the social media avenues but I am learning everyday. I am writing this blog to let you know that no matter your experience you can learn all the different platforms to advertise your products across many different platforms. I will be writing posts on each of these platforms separately but these are the general ones I use right now.

The easiest for me is Twitter. I use Buffer to schedule my posts and then just let them run. I then during the day tweet on any items that may be in the news or trending that day. This way I am not just posting my products. I don’t want to feel like I am spamming on the platform.

I love Pinterest. I have gained about 200 followers in the past couple of months. I am at 387 right now but when I started working on grown my followers I was at 75. There are many courses out there you can take to help grow your followers. I have read and watched an array of them and learned different ideas on how to pin and what to pin. I have bought maybe one or two courses but they were not very expensive and extremely helpful. I am not in a place right now to spend on courses but there are many free or those that charge minimal fees that are really helpful. I will be writing about what I have learned and what works and what doesn’t.

Instagram is a bit more intensive but I am learning that as I go. I have not found a program that you can schedule your posts. What I do is post first thing in the morning then one in the afternoon. The one in the morning is something inspirational and then the one in the afternoon is one of my products. I feel that you can really seem spammy on this platform if all you post is your products frequently. I will be sharing how I am doing with gaining followers and how my products sell on it.

I am still learning Google+ and when I feel I can share something about that I will write a blog on that later.

One item that I have found that is a hidden gem is Canva. I love this program. I have been able to create pictures that are perfect for each platform I use. It is very simple to use. You can find tips on this program on different blogs and sites as well.

I am by no means a professional on these platforms but I am seeing progress. I just wanted to let you all know that it can be done. You do have to put the time in but once you do and you learn tricks for each one it becomes routine. If you would like to know more about what I have learned please message me. Continue to follow my blog and see my progress. It will be fun to interact and share our progress.

Happy Sharing!!!
